The MHL Hotel Collection is a collection of unique and individual luxury hotels in key locations throughout Ireland including Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick. It’s the second largest hotel group in Dublin city with over 1,350 five and four-star bedrooms, managing over 2,000 bedrooms in total.

Each hotel has their own personality and charm, offering a range of amenities from fine dining restaurants, spa facilities and conference and event spaces.

The challenge

MHL approached Savvy with the desire to move from a collection of individual hotel gift card programmes to a centralised and controlled product strategy for gift cards.

They wanted this strategy to enable both local hotel gift card products and also a MHL multi-choice gift card that could be sold and redeemed anywhere across their estate. To support this would involve merging the individual gift card programmes into one group programme and moving hotels not already working with Savvy into the group programme. All this had to be done with limited downtime for minimum customer impact when processing existing gift cards. MHL also wanted a new eGift website to sell both physical and digital gift cards for all of their properties, and centrally manage funds and risk.

The Savvy solution

Savvy created a centralised and controlled gift card strategy for MHL by merging and migrating existing individual gift card programmes into one group programme. In collaboration with In1 Solutions, Savvy also supported MHL in launching a new eGift website enabling each hotel to sell physical and digital gift cards via a branded web page for the Group.

Already providing gift card services to six of their 12 hotels along with our previous experience of migrating and merging multiple hotel programmes into one, we were the only vendor able to support MHL via their Elavon payment terminals, for sales and redemptions across their estate. Already managing over 200 hotel programmes, our expertise and credentials in the hotel sector was key to make it happen.
